From February 11, 2010 it will no longer be possible to travel in the Rotterdam region using strippenkaarten or city/regional season tickets.
From February 1, 2010 the sale of these travel passes will cease in the Rotterdam region, and soon it will also no longer be possible to travel in the Amsterdam region using strippenkaarten or city/regional season tickets. The date regarding the latter region has not yet been set.
Recently the OV chipcard replaced the strippenkaart as the valid travel pass on both these regions’ metro systems. As the OV chipcard will soon also be replacing strippenkaarten and city/regional season tickets on buses and trams in these regions, we would advise you to use up your strippenkaarten and start employing an OV chipcard to travel on. So please do not stock up on strippenkaarten, as soon you will no longer be able to use them in these regions!
You will not be able to exchange your strippenkaarten as according to the law refunds are never provided for strippenkaarten!
